Why Rasmus Hojlund would be a success at AC Milan

Danish striker Rasmus Hojlund's time at Manchester United may be coming to an end, as Italian giants AC Milan are advancing in negotiations to sign him from United, as reported by Fabrizio Romano. This is happening after United brought in Benjamin Sesko to be their new striker, while he is still at the club.

Milans striking Problems

Having bought Santiago Gimenez for €32 million from Dutch side Feyenoord, and with only 6 goals to show for in the 2024/25 season. Milan’s coach, Max Allegri, would love to bring in a new centre forward who can solve the problem in attack for them as they would look to improve on the 8th position they finished last season.

Stats

Hojlund was one of the few players who were called out to have underperformed at United last season in what has been described as a shambolic season and one of the worst United teams in years. Hojlund scored 10 goals in all competitions last season for United, making up about 14-17% of their total goals with only Bruno, Amad and Garnacho getting more goals than him. He was also having 1.12 shots per 90 in the Premier League with a shot accuracy of 50% and a conversion rate of 16.7%.

Physicality

Standing at 1.91m tall, Rasmus Hojlund is known to be a physical player though he might not be the finished article but he showed glimpses of how strong he is last season with United by winning 58% of his aerial duels, winning 52% of his ground duels, covering a staggering 10.2km per game and a top speed of 34.2km/h ranking him amongst the best of centre forwards last season in the pl.

Fitting in

Physically and aerially strong, intelligent movement, back-to-goal play and tactical discipline are the traits Max Allegri wants in his centre forwards, which can be seen over the years with the type of strikers he has worked with. There is no reason that Hojlund doesn’t fit this bill, though he might not be the finished article yet, but who better manager to grow in your career than under Max Allegri?

History

Milan is one of the traditional teams in Europe with a very rich history, having won 19 league titles, 5 Coppa Italia, 7 Supercoppa Italiana, 7  UEFA Champions League/European Cup, 5 UEFA Super Cup, 4 Intercontinental Cup and the first Italian team to win both the UEFA Champions League and the Intercontinental Cup. Milan is also known to have some great and notable European nights like the 4-0 UCL final win over Barcelona in 1994, the 2-1 UCL final win over Liverpool in 2007, and the 3-0 UCL semi-final second leg win over Manchester United in 2007. These and many more are some of the nights Milan fans won't forget in a hurry.

Despite Hojlund looking to fight for his place at United, it won't be a bad idea if he goes to AC Milan, as they are one of the top teams in Italy, and this would help take the pressure off him. Milan is a club he knows well, with his time at Atalanta and with Max Allegri at the helm, it looks certain that he would succeed.
